Educating for life: guidelines for biodiversity education

In 1996 the CEE Biodiversity Education Working Group secured funding from the Department of the Environment to carry out research into site-based biodiversity education provision. The research reviewed a range of provision including nature reserves, national and country parks, wildfowl and rare breed collections, zoos, museums and aquaria, field and urban study centres, botanie and public gardens, arboreta and woodlands and community-based programmes. The aim of this research was to identify good practice in the developing field of biodiversity education, leading to guidance for providers and practitioners. Educating for Life is one of the outcomes of the research that contributes towards this aim.
