To develop awareness and responsibility of the citizens in order to ensure protection of the environment and its resources within sustainable development, eduacation has to play an essential part.
DG XI General Directorate for Environment keeps helping the Member States projects ready to implement the principles of the 1988 Resolution about environmental education. Among priorities, teacher training is expected to develop as a follow-up of national experiences through an European dimension. This is the contribution of the ATEE sub-group (EEITE) focussing on initial training about environment and trying to open the way to other trainers in Europe.
